Chagall

Chagall tells the story of an artist who faced poverty, persecution, displacement and heartbreak, yet responded to these trials with creative purpose, imagination and beauty. It’s the first feature documentary film in over fifty years about one of the most important artists of the 20th century, Marc Chagall.

Chagall lived a long, creative and dramatic life during the most consequential moments in modern history—the two World Wars and the Russian Revolution. The film explores how Chagall responded to these cataclysmic events in his art, and how they formed his humanity. In the words of Chagall, ”I am everywhere, I am in all of it.”
